I found treasure while digging the soil for the garden

Today I am going to tell you a true story. It may sound like a story to many of you, but it happened to me and I thought I could share it with you. I have always had a fascination for treasure since childhood. In many cartoon movies, many stories, I have heard about treasure.

Gardening is one of my hobbies. It is my passion. You can say from my childhood planting plants and I have a love for plants. I try to keep plants in my bedroom. I always care a lot about plants. It gives me so much joy and peace. A picture of a beautiful garden always makes my eyes float and I feel like I make a beautiful garden but sometimes I don’t because of the busyness of work and yet I have a beautiful garden that I look after carefully. I always encourage gardening with all my friends and relatives.

Now I come back to my story. The incident happened to me around March 2017. I will never forget this incident. Whenever I see a vacant lot in front of someone’s house, I remember my gardening story.

My house is located in a lot of space, so, there was some empty space in front of the house. Suddenly, I thought I would like to make a garden and I decided to make a garden. Many people in the family stopped me but I didn’t accept anyone’s obstacles. You can call my gardening a hobby, so I started digging the soil with some equipment. It was very difficult but I continued to try.

At one point I heard my device hit some metal object and I got a little scared and then I was happy that I might get something.

I didn’t tell the story to anyone at home. I tried to unravel its mystery myself. I started searching the ground more and more. Yes indeed I found an urn which was made of brass. My excitement increased. I couldn’t bear it anymore. The mouth of the urn was covered with a cloth. I climbed up that urn. It was very heavy, so I washed its body with water.

Then I removed the face cloth of the urn. Yes really I was surprised inside the urn there were some clothes, some dry food and some money. Maybe some family saved it inside to avoid calamity and put it under the ground for later use but maybe they are no more in this world.

The food inside the urn was spoiled and the clothes were also rotten but the money was in a polythene bag so the money was good.

Inside the jar I got approximately 15000 Tk bangladeshi taka which is 150 dollar. Out of which I invest some money in my garden and the rest I donate to a madrasah for poor children.

I used that money to buy some fruit seeds, flower seeds and vegetable seeds for my garden and bought organic fertilizers and pesticides for the garden from the market and started planting the seeds.

All this was a new experience for me. I never made my own garden before. I took some gardening tips from youtube but they didn’t give good results. Then I watered regularly every day like I did. After two to three days later I saw many little plants in my garden and my heart was filled with happiness. I called everyone and showed them my garden. Everyone gave me a lot of encouragement. Those who discouraged me also wanted to garden after seeing me.

I have helped many people with gardening and still encourage people to garden in various ways so I thought I would share some gardening tips with you.

Creating a small garden in front of your house can be a rewarding and enjoyable project. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get started:
  1. Assess the Space: Take a look at the area in front of your house where you want to create the garden. Consider factors like sunlight exposure, soil quality, and drainage.
  1. Define Your Goals: Decide what you want from your garden. Are you aiming for a flower garden, a vegetable garden, or a mix of both? Do you want to attract wildlife like birds and butterflies? Understanding your goals will help you plan accordingly.
  1. Plan the Layout: Sketch out a rough layout of your garden. Consider the size and shape of the space, as well as any existing features like pathways or trees. Think about how you want to arrange your plants and any other elements like garden beds, borders, or seating areas.
  1. Choose Plants: Select plants that are well-suited to your climate, soil type, and sunlight conditions. Consider factors like color, texture, and height to create visual interest. Choose a mix of perennials and annuals for year-round beauty.
  1. Prepare the Soil: Before planting, prepare the soil by removing weeds, rocks, and debris. Loosen the soil with a shovel or garden fork, and amend it with organic matter like compost or aged manure to improve fertility and drainage.
  1. Planting: Follow the planting instructions for each plant, taking care to space them appropriately and plant them at the correct depth. Water the plants thoroughly after planting to help them establish roots.
  1. Mulching: Apply a layer of mulch around your plants to help retain moisture, suppress weeds, and improve the soil. Organic mulches like wood chips or straw are excellent choices.
  1. Watering: Establish a watering routine based on the needs of your plants and the weather conditions in your area. Water deeply and infrequently to encourage deep root growth and drought resistance.
  1. Maintenance: Regular maintenance is essential to keep your garden healthy and thriving. This includes tasks like weeding, deadheading flowers, pruning, and fertilizing as needed.
  1. Enjoy Your Garden: Take the time to relax and enjoy your garden space. Whether you’re sipping your morning coffee on the porch or hosting a barbecue with friends, your garden will provide beauty and enjoyment for years to come.
Remember, gardening is a continuous learning process, so don’t be afraid to experiment and adapt as you go. Have fun and happy gardening!
